Fubuki Katana - 吹雪

Fubuki Katana - 吹雪

Fubuki Katana is one of the most visually arresting katanas in our collection. Its defining feature is a unique hand-finished saya coated in a dramatic black lacquer base with wild white paint-splash bursts — evoking a snowstorm frozen in time. This is paired with a deeply aggressive T10 "all burned" hamon blade and a dragon-engraved body, creating a sword that is as fierce on the cutting edge as it is on the eye.

SPECIFICATIONS

Blade Material T10 Steel with Full "All Burned" Hamon — ultra-aggressive temper line covering the full blade surface, with mirror polish and hand-engraved dragon motif
Equipment Copper Fittings
Overall Length 103 cm (40.6")
Blade Length 71 cm (28.0")
Handle Length 27 cm (10.6")
Blade Width 3.2 cm (1.26")

DESCRIPTION

The 吹雪 — Fubuki Katana is named after the Japanese word for blizzard — and one look at the saya tells you exactly why. The scabbard is finished in deep matte black lacquer, then hand-splattered with explosive bursts of white paint that cascade across its entire length like snow driven by a winter storm. No two scabbards are identical. Finished with a matching black-and-white braided sageo cord, the saya is a complete artwork in itself.

The blade is forged from high-carbon T10 steel and features a full "all burned" hamon — the most aggressive temper pattern available, where the cloudy hamon zone envelops nearly the entire blade surface. This creates a mesmerising silvery turbulence along the blade that mirrors the chaos of the saya's splatter design. A hand-engraved dragon motif runs along the body near the habaki, adding a final layer of craftsmanship to an already extraordinary piece.

The tsuka (handle) is wrapped in black ito over genuine samegawa, with white diamond-shaped hishigami lozenge patterns — maintaining the stark black-and-white aesthetic from tip to pommel. The circular iron tsuba and ornate silver-toned fuchi complete the guard fittings with understated authority.

The 吹雪 — Fubuki Katana is not a sword that fades into the background. It is a collector's statement: raw, dramatic, and built to the same exacting standards as every blade in this line. The Blade of the Blizzard.
